Chan Poh Yoke grew up in a poor family. While young, she was taught by her mother to be “a woman who strives for everything and not be a flower in the conservatory.”
Before Chan Poh Yoke joined Amway, she was only a factory clerk earning a meagre salary. As a clerk, she often had to put up with the whims and fancies of her superiors. She dared not even dream of being her own boss. Until one evening, she was introduced to the golden opportunity of Amway.
Initially, Chan Poh Yoke never expected that she could sell anything. she even gave many excuses not to do the Amway business. But after carefully studying the Amway Sales & Marketing Plan, she began to understand it. She felt that there was no harm in trying the Amway business. After all, she had nothing to lose. In fact, she saw the Amway business as one which would yield a large profit with only a small capital outlay.
